Multidisciplinary

Growing up in Frackville, I came to appreciate the ethnic cultural traditions and the heritage that shapes our communities in Schuylkill County. My memories and experiences have guided my approach to my work and I am always challenged by the alchemy that is art where observation, practice, and skill come together in the interpretation of an idea, a vision, and the spontaneity of making something that is satisfying.

My work is an integration of drawing, painting, collage and mixed media where I create spatial, playful, textural surfaces. I invite the viewer to explore color, light and shadow woven together to suggest emotion, depth and spatial tension. I am influenced by the art of ancient civilizations and culture and an appreciation of the Impressionists, the Abstract Expressionists and the Modern/Post Modern artists.

I have earned a Bachelor of Art, Moravian University, Bethlehem, PA. In addition, I studied painting and drawing at the Baum School of Art, Allentown and classical drawing with the late Myron Barnestone at the Barnestone Studios, Coplay, PA. Professionally, I worked for AT&T Microelectronics in the Lehigh Valley as a technical illustrator, graphic designer and art director. After completing the Teacher Certification Program at Muhlenberg College in Allentown, I taught elementary students in the Lehigh Valley.
