Mike McCord

Mike McCord is an Associate Artist with the Walk In Art Center. He is a watercolor painter and avid sketcher. He has a career background in Marketing Communications and Graphic Design in addition to his political activities.

Mike has always enjoyed drawing and has used his sketchbook to keep his love of art an active part of his daily life. Since he joined the WIAC Family he has been concentrating on expanding the spontaneity he enjoys about his sketching into his more public works. His strong ties to the community and our region are evident in his choice of subject matter. Mike also involves himself in public art projects designed to bring art into our communities such as the Walk In Art Center’s Before I Die Wall and the Lewis New Building Mural Project in Downtown Schuylkill Haven.

In addition to Mike’s love of art, he is active in his church, Saint Clare of Assisi Parish, St. Clair, as well as serving as Vice-Chairman on the Schuylkill County Transit Authority Board of Directors, the NEPA Board of Directors, the Saint Clair Planning Commission as Vice-Chairman, Past Chairman and founding member of the Walk in Arts Center Artists’ Association, past President of the Schuylkill County Borough’s Association, former St. Clair Borough Councilman and Council President, former Chairman of the Schuylkill County NRA Banquet Committee and former Schuylkill County Register of Wills.

Mike is currently retired and loving it. Most importantly, Mike is the husband of Bernadette Lokitus McCord and father to Patrick and Alison McCord. He resides in his hometown of St. Clair with his family and their dog, Donut.
