A Letter From Our Founder
The Walk In Art Center was established to bring people to the town of Schuylkill Haven from outside the area to revitalize the town and surrounding area. Near the end of the 20th century, the town, like many in our area, had suffered economically by the building of the malls and many of the local shops had closed. A visit to the town brought with it many empty buildings, For Sale signs in the windows, and boarded up store fronts.

A group of stakeholders including business leaders, organizations, and the local Penn State campus discussed a plan for the revitalization of the local business district and the Walk In Art Center was an integral part of that plan. Now the town is vibrant and flourishing. Store fronts are filled, businesses and professional offices have established locations in the town, and Schuylkill Haven has become a model for other small towns to follow.

My family had several goals in its establishment. First, we wanted to give back to a great community, one that had a very positive effect on our family and our company. We chose to do create an attraction that would draw people from other areas, so they could experience the warmth and hospitality of Schuylkill Haven. While they visit, we believe they will support other business in the area and help our county revitalize.
Second, we wanted to create an awareness of the importance of creative expression by showcasing top artists from the region, along with other collections from other areas and countries.
Lastly, we wanted to teach and assist all who visit the center so that they may appreciate and understand how art can enrich their lives.
