Help Support the Walk In Art Center

In 2003 the Borough of Schuylkill Haven started planning a five part program to help bring visitors to town and revitalize the community. One of the developments that came from those planning sessions was the vision of Mr. Bert Evans to create an Art Center. Mr. Evans was looking for a way to give back to the community which he had been a part of for so long.

Bert believed that building an art center as an attraction would help revitalize the community and county by drawing visitors to the Schuylkill Haven area.

Facilitating educational programs, exhibits, summer art camps and other community programs, the Walk In Art Center could also fulfill his vision to give back to the community on a more personal level.

In 2008 the planning began. Over the next four years building renovations were completed and artists started moving in.

Since then, the Walk In Art Center has continued to grow and enrich more and more peoples lives.

Art classes and children’s Summer Art Camp programs have been created to reach further into the community. Many community events, charity events and out reach programs are facilitated by the Walk In Art Center.

Visitors come to our First Saturday Open House events to speak with the artists, see beautiful artwork, enjoy the entrainment and programs and spend a pleasant afternoon with their families, all free of charge.
